The G&T Process

Overview

Admission to all New York City Gifted & Talented (G&T) programs and schools is controlled by the New York City Department of Education (DOE). Citywide G&T schools do not select any students for admission to Kindergarten – 3rd Grade.  Each fall, the DOE announces what the time line and procedures will be that year for testing, deadlines, applications and placement notification. The Department of Education publishes a G&T Program Test Information Handbook each year, which explains everything about the G&T admissions process and includes sample test questions that you can review with your child.
